SWF Blog 50 Match Challenge update - Games 51 - 60

In the last installment of the SWF Blog 50 Match Challenge the headline was - Challenge Complete! Did it reached the 50 matches in the calender year of 2014 by the end of July.. and then I set myself a new challenge, the SWF Blog 90 Match Challenge, to see if I could watch 90 women's football matches by the end of 2014.

To that end another 10 matches have been racked up, again full of variety and plenty of travelling, a real lack of FAWSL 1 match action as there have been very few fixtures happening in what really is the height of the summer. That though has been discussed at length and can't see it improving anytime soon, going to be a busy September and October for several clubs though.

Never the less, there has been some FAWSL action, especially WSL 2 and I have gotten round to see all the teams in the new league play this season, a mini target of mine, Durham Women and Watford Ladies having been saved till last, is certainly proving to be an interesting and competitive league with some of the early season strugglers finding their feet and making progress up the table.

Had a trip down to Bristol Academy.. is a long way but I do like the Stoke Gifford Stadium there is always a great atomosphere. An England Women's international, should have been 2 but car trouble scuppered a trip to Wales to see the team qualify for next summers World Cup in Canada.

Have taken in a few pre season friendlies as teams prepare for the new winter leagues. Also during August I launched my new website www.womensfootballeast.com exciting times and there has been a great response to it, have plenty of work to do but it is something I've been thinking about for a while now and feel the teams in my region warrant the added coverage and promotion, just the beginning looking forwards to seeing where it will go.

Rounding of their has been a season opener in the new FA Women's Premier League, South East Division One and a new cup competition - that morphed into 2 the FAWPL Cup.

So where have I been these past 10 matches:- Games #51 - 60

Game #51 - Durham Women 0-0 Doncaster Rovers Belles
                                                  (FAWSL 2) 2nd August

Game #52 - Sunderland Ladies 2-0 Oxford United Women
                                                  (FAWSL 2) 3rd August

Game #53 - England Women 4-0 Sweden Women
                                       (International Friendly) 3rd August

Game #54 - Watford Ladies 0-4 Reading FC Women
                                             (FAWSL 2) 10th August

Game #55 - Cambridge WFC 5-0 Watford Ladies Reserves
                                            (Pre season friendly) 17th August

Game #56 - Ipswich Town Ladies 1-1 Lowestoft Town Ladies
                                            (Pre season friendly) 19th August

Game #57 - Bristol Academy 5-2 Everton Ladies
                                              (FAWSL 1) 23rd August

Game #58 - Norwich City Ladies 5-3 Ipswich Town Ladies
(FAWPL South East Div One) 24th August

Game #59 - Brandon Town Ladies 2-2 Thorpe United Ladies
                                       (Pre season friendly)* 27th August
                                      * game abandoned 2nd half due to injury to Thorpe player

Game #60 - Reading FC Women 4-0 Doncaster Rovers Belles
                                                     (FAWSL 2) 30th August

Plenty of variety and none lacking for action and entertainment. Even more new leagues and teams to look at over the coming weeks as the winter leagues get into full swing. Alot more FAWSL action too as the season reaches it's climax the problem now is choosing which match to go to because sadly I can only be in one place at a time.

Next update in 10 matches time....
